Disability & Rehabilitation:

The current world population is 7.5 billion as of June 2017 according to the most recent United Nations estimates elaborated by Worldometers . Over a billion people globally about 15% have some form of disability. 360 million people worldwide have moderate to profound hearing loss, 285 million people are visually impaired (39 million of whom are blind), 75 million people need a wheelchair (of which, only 5-15% actually have access to one). The number of people with disabilities in India has been estimated at 70 million . Unlike those in the West, most people with disabilities in India and their families are focused on survival because of poverty . People with disabilities are often seen as wicked or deceitful, or as unable to progress to adulthood and dependent on charity and pity for assistance . Disability in India is affected by other social divisions such as class, gender, and caste. Statistics show that women with disabilities in India are more marginalized than their male counterparts.

For years, disabled people had to rely on somebody else doing things for them. But now with the help of assistive technology, disabled people can do things that would have never been possible before – from switching on a light to having a voice to express themselves. Technology have lowered barriers that people with disabilities encounter in their daily lives, such as speaking, travelling, reading, and writing. It can allow them to participate and enjoy the benefits of the digital society, with the same access to information as everyone else. And, perhaps most importantly, new technology can allow people with disabilities to act more independently from others if they wish (at the same time as connecting them with people around the world). Applications and Gadgets like Dot; Talkitt; sesame phone; UNI; Finger Reader; Be My Eyes; Axs map; Transcence; Assist-Mi; Liftware etc are helping the disabled get assistance when and where they need it.

Imagine everything you need, all under one roof. India Enable Expo is the go-to source for the Community of people with disabilities, their families, seniors, veterans, disability equipment manufacturers, latest technology, training schools and healthcare professionals. This event showcases  new technologies, new possibilities, new solutions and new opportunities to change your life.

Wellness & Fitness:

In India, the total retail market for fitness as a category is valued at Rs. 4,579 Cr (US$ 0.76 bn), growing at 16-18 per cent and is estimated to cross Rs. 7,000 crore (US$ 1.18 bn) by the year 2017. Modern retail is estimated at 28 per cent of this total market and is expected to grow by 22-27 per cent. Fitness centers are burgeoning as disposable per capita income rises and sedentary lifestyles lower immunity amongst today’s youth. Fixation to resistance training increased amongst men and so did aerobics and strength training amongst women.

The Indian health and wellness market, pegged at over a trillion dollar in 2016, is said to be growing by over 20 per cent each year. Wellness and health brands have now started stretching out to Tier II and III cities as well. Changes in lifestyle and consumers becoming more health conscious are primary factors that have added to the growing demand for not just services but health products too.

Health and wellness is the fastest growing sector in franchising, both globally as well as in India. However, a large chunk of the Indian population is not aware of the fitness options available to them. A pool of startups have emerged in the last couple of years, to bridge this gap, and address the requirements of fitness enthusiasts. With these embarking on journeys into the wellness space, the space is expected to hit an inflection point of growth.

We believe that wellness is the next frontier for tech-led disruption. Startups that are using technology to attain scale in addressing a large space like wellness will provide for great investment opportunities. Moreover, startups who build a trusted brand for the masses can generate outsized profits and ROI .

Medical Equipments:

Indian medical device market worth $11B by 2023. The global primary healthcare devices and solutions market is estimated at $50 billion and devices account for half of this. Frost & Sullivan estimates the Indian market for medical devices at $2.5 billion a year. The Medical Equipment industry is quite wide with > 14000 different products types, as per the Global Medical Device Nomenclature(GMDN). The Medical Devices and Equipment industry valued at US$ 2.5 billion contributes only 6% of India’s US$ 40 billion healthcare sector. The Medical Devices and Equipment industry  is growing at a faster annual rate of 15% than 10-12% growth seen in the Healthcare sector in its entirety.Currently, import constitutes almost 70% of the Indian medical devices market.

Even as the government is making serious efforts to boost domestic manufacturing of medical devices, through the development of manufacturing parks, for instance, the lack of distinct identity for the medical device industry has acted as a substantial deterrent to the expansion of the sector.
